OFFICE AUTOMATION ASSISTANT

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) knowledge of general office automation software, practices, and procedures; (2) competitive level proficiency in typing; and (3) ability to apply these knowledge and skills in the performance of general office support work OFFICE AUTOMATION AND PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT:
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must possess the skill of a qualified typist, a minimum of 40 WPM proficiency. Applicants may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school of organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency in the assessment tool. NOTE:
You will be considered INELIGIBLE if you do not provide information concerning your typing speed. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 2. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare, edits, and reviews written correspondence and reports. 3. Skill in communicating factual and procedural infonnation clearly and with courtesy, both orally and in writing. 4. Ability to plan work, locate/organize data, and composes information for routine reports, inquiries, and nontechnical correspondence to meet established deadlines. 5. Ability to work accurately with figures to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and to do simple percentages according to a given fonnula. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
