This is an Air Force Pathways Internship position located at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. The Pathways Intern Program is a planned, progressive education program that provides for the integration of a student's academic studies with target positions in the Federal Workforce. The Pathways Intern Program allows students to gain real, paid work experience while pursuing a diploma, degree or certificate in a particular career field. Work locations vary throughout Kirtland AFB, and the duties performed are designed to provide hands-on experience in the specific discipline for which hired.

This internship position is located in the Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.

As a Student Trainee (O/A Clerk), GS-0399-02, you will use a limited range of repetitive word processing software functions and procedures to produce a variety of standard documents to perform miscellaneous clerical support. You will also:
Apply typing skills and knowledge of a limited range of basic functions and procedures of word processing software to create, copy, edit, and print a variety of standardized documents.
Prepare a variety of standardized documents in draft or final form from detailed procedural instructions.
Receive mail, open, and distributes to appropriate individuals following specific instructions.
Receives telephone calls and visitors.

Your must be a student currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited college or university Bachelor's Degree Program. Your major field of study must be either directly or closely related to the work of the Student Trainee (O/A Clerk), GS-0399-02 position.
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree, in any field of study related to the position.
Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the educational institution (typically six hour or equivalent)
Maintain good academic standing (typically no less than 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale, or school's equivalent grading scale).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
2. Ability to learn basic word processing functions to produce a variety of standardized documents such as letters, memos, and mailing lists.
3. Ability to learn basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence.
4. Ability to learn general office administrative and clerical procedures and organization and functions sufficient to distribute mail, answer telephone, receive visitors, files, and prepare routine correspondence.
5. Ability to read and interpret specific procedural guidelines pertaining to administrative support, including locally developed equipment operating and document processing instructions and to learn filing systems and procedures and other functions which are directly applicable to the work.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
